Hooks and Rigs
Hooks and Rigs – Australian made and built to last
Fish without hesitation and total confidence, and don’t let that catch of a lifetime get away due to a faulty setup!
By using one of our tried & tested Hooks and Rigs, in both swivel or shackle design you know it’s not going to let you down. All our game fishing rigs are designed with the highest quality components available in both heavy and light gauge steel. All our Pakula rigs have been quality assured by Peter himself, and we have based our Get Game Rigs off his same tested, trusted and proven design, using his “Dojo” hooks.
Dojo Hooks are custom made specifically for Pakula Tackle Australia. These hooks are double ground pre-sharpened, made in Korea using high strength 402J2 Stainless Steel.
Dojo Hooks are very short hook with a wide gape and turned in beak point shaped to maximise hook up rates. To minimise confusion with hook sizes Dojo Hooks are sized according to their gape. This is a useful method to choose the right sized hook. For a skirted lure, the hook gape should equal the lure head diameter. For example if you wish to choose a hook for a lure with a 25mm head diameter you choose a size 25 hook.
Keel Rig Weights
The Pakula Keel Rig weights will increase your hook up rate on all Skirted Trolling Lures.
The Pakula Keel Rigs were first introduced in the late 1980’s. Since then we have developed them to a point that anglers can easily adopt the system using the Pakula Keel Rig weights and increase their hook up rates considerably.
The Shackle Rig allows the hooks total freedom to line up with the lures centre eliminating line twist. The hooks are free to swing allowing the lure to exhibit its best possible action without hindrance or keeling effects. This gives the hooks the best possible chance of hooking up as they are able to work independently of each other. We recommend the hooks are set to 60 degrees. In this configuration both hooks travel with their points up and in a slight “V” formation acting as a rudder.
The Pakula Single Hook Swivel Rig allows the hook to remain point up regardless of what the lure is doing. In rougher conditions we recommend using Pakula Keel weights to make the rig more stable. Get Game Tackle also use the Pakula “Dojo” hook on our heavy gauge swivel rigs.
